A concerned user Ritchell de Guzman ranted using the social networking site Facebook telling the story of a 12-year old boy, who was scheduled to fly to Vietnam for a medical procedure, was prohibited by Cebu Pacific to take the plane bound for Vietnam. It happened after personnel at one of the budget carrier’s check-in counters claimed that the offloaded passenger had a damaged passport.
His mother Regin de Guzman Palileo and Luisa Punzalan, pleaded on behalf of the boy by explaining his medical condition; the mother claimed it was the same passport he used in his latest travel to the United States, and never experienced any problems with it.
But despite the mother’s pleading, Cebu Pacific manager Mark Rotanel, in a raised voice, insisted that the airline had a right to offload any passenger having an alleged defective passport. He added that it was only Palileo who was booked and available to board the plane.
