A strong tornado hit Cebu City at 2:30 p.m. yesterday.
The tornado, or 'alimpulos' in the local dialect was clocked at 200 kph. It tore through the coastal village of Mambaling.
According to Oscar Tabada, station chief of Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration in Macta, Cebu the tornado started somewhere at Barangay Tisa and then moved to sitio Nava and sitio Lawis in Mambaling where it damaged at least 29 houses made of light materials.
The tornado subsided and stopped in Talisay City.
