A cum laude from the Ateneo de Manila University died after undergoing stem cell therapy which was allegedly administered by Antonia Park, who is said to be the alternative medicine doctor of former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.
Katherine Grace Tan, 23 years old had been suffering from a very rare type of cancer, Hodgkin's lymphoma. Bernard Tan, father of Katherine, said they have sought for embryonic stem cell therapy by Antonia Park hoping to cure his daughter's illness.
Antonia Park allegedly told Tan to give her three months to cure his daughter and had asked Katherine to follow a strict juice diet. According to Park, the young girl's illness is not actually cancer, but rather, a hormonal imbalance.
According to some reports earlier this month, Park admitted to not possessing any medical license to practice in the Philippines. Moreover, the Philippine Regulatory Commission confirmed that Park, of the Green & Young Health and Wellness Center, was never on the list of authorized medical practitioners in the country.
Recent checks also showed that the medical clinic where stem cell therapies were conducted, are registered as a massage and sauna clinic and not a stem cell therapy clinic.
