Prepare to see lunar eclipse this week

This week will be an astronomical treats starting with a partial lunar eclipse on Monday and ending with the Perseids meteor shower on Sunday.


the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said on August 7 the partial lunar eclipse will occur until August 8.

Pagasa said, "On monday,the umbral eclipse magnitude will be 25 percent".
The lunar eclipse will start at 11:50pm on Monday and will end at 4:51am on Tuesday. The best phase of lunar eclipse will be around 2:20am, you better not miss this chance.

Cynthia P. Celebre the chief of the Pagasa Research and Development and Training Division, "Lunar eclipses are safe to watch. Hence, observers need not use any kind of protective filters for the eyes," They also said, "A pair of binoculars will help magnify the view and will make the red coloration of the moon brighter, The lunar eclipse will also be visible in western Pacific Ocean, Oceania, Australasia, Asia, Africa, Europe, and the easternmost tip of south America."

Adding to that on August 21 to 22 a solar eclipse will occur , but won't be visible to the Philippines .
