Five Die After Eating Questionable Horse Meat

Five people were reported dead after eating meat from four horses which mysteriously died in the Senator Ninoy Aquino town of Sultan Kudarat province, Philippines.

The Sultan Kudarat social welfare office revealed that as many 60 residents are believed to have eaten the meat from the dead horses. Henry Albana, the social welfare officer of the province said one of the five victims in the tragic incident is the owner of one of the horses.

Eating horse meat is not common in the Philippines, but in some areas in the provinces, people are forced to eat it out of poverty.
