Earlier this afternoon, I went out to meet my friends. As I entered the mall, a Korean, in his thirties caught my attention. He asked me and started a conversation.
Korean: Are you waiting for someone?
Me: Yes.
Korean: Your boyfriend?
Me: No.
Korean: Is a girl or a boy?
Me: Girl. (Because I don't want to have a conversation with him, I answered him in isang tanong, isang sagot.)
Korean: Can I have your number? My name is Brian. I am a Korean.
(Because I'm surprised by him and don't know what to do, I can't think straight, so I gave my name and my cellphone number.)
Korean: You look young. Are you 19?
Me: No. I'm 23 years old.
(Trying to call my friends to seek help from them. And when I saw them, I left the Korean alone.)
Korean: I'll call you.
End of conversation.
He then kept on texting me. But in his third text, I replied.
Me: Sorry for not texting you back earlier, I'm busy hanging with my friends. What do you want?
Korean: What do you want?
(And that makes me think of something.)
Me: You're the one who asked my number and kept texting me. What do you want?
Korean: If you're unfriendly to me, I delete you.
Me: Then delete my number and never text me again.
Korean: I have too many girlfriends, I don't need you.
Me: The hell I care!
Korean: Stop monkey face.
What he said annoys me so I never texted him again and deleted his number.
I wonder why he did it. Is it because how I dressed? The way I look? Did he think that Filipinos are too dumb? You can't just based on how we (women) dress and put makeup on to say that we are prostitutes. We are not asking for it. Think. Learn to respect women.
